Snickerdoodles

Random picture? This is the only thing I have left to show from making the snickerdoodle cookies....actually I helped a friend make these cookies for a cookout and they were gone in no time. These were so good, I'm thinking of making another batch to use up the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture!

Snickerdoodles
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbls cinnamon

Mix together in small bowl and set aside.

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
2 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp creme of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix sugar, shortening, butter, and eggs in large bowl. Mix dry ingredients in another bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and mix well. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes or until center is almost set. Remove from cookie sheet to cool. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
