My weekend in pictures

My husband and I returned early this morning from Washington DC where we were attending a wedding for a college friend. This is one of our favorite cities, so it's always exciting to visit! We chose not to do the tourist thing this time and instead walked around the neighborhoods we were staying near and eating at some local places. Well, we did go to the zoo, so I guess we did one tourist thing, but we managed not to see any monuments or museums. Here are some snapshots of our weekend!

We got to see our nieces in Chicago during a layover, along with my sister and mother-in-law.

We ate a wonderful meal at Kramerbooks in Dupont Circle, where Fodor's travel guide told us was a DC hot spot!

We attended the wedding of a fraternity brother of my husbands, who was also in our wedding. Matt, the groom, is shown above with his mom. We also were able to visit with another groomsmen from our wedding and fraternity brother of my husbands, Van.

On Sunday we went to a Farmer's Market in Dupont Circle where they had amazing produce and backed goods! I would love to go each week to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables and gorgeous flowers! We also saw a rack of Smart Bikes, which I thought was pretty neat!

Back Home...

My husband and I had a wonderful vacation visiting friends in the DC area. The weather was gorgeous minus a couple of rainy days. We were able to see the Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin in Washington DC, and they were in peak bloom! We met up with one of my husband's fraternity brothers and his fiance and ate at a Washington "haunt" Old Ebbitt Grill. It was a mix of seafood and American cuisine, but not having access to good seafood in Wyoming, I chose the crab cakes...DELICIOUS! We also introduced our friends, Matt and Jamie, to the Fish Market and Cosi in Old Town Alexandria, where we had more seafood and table-top smore's. Matt and Jamie cooked most nights and everything was wonderful. I'll have to get some of the recipes from her or try to re-create them as best I can! I am trying to get back in to my routine and will hopefully have some recipes and pictures to share soon! This weekend we are hosting our focus group from church at our home for a pot-luck and game night. Hope to have some good recipes from that as well!

Visiting friends and seeing the Cherry Blossoms

My husband and I are visiting some friends who live near Washington DC! We met these friends while in college, the guys "clicked" and so did us gals! We were all in each others weddings, and they just had a baby! So, we are meeting the little girl for the first time! It is a perfect time to be out this way, as the Cherry Blossom festival starts Saturday. I am anxious to get into the city to see all the trees in bloom.

In the meantime, I won't be cooking, so no new recipes for a while! I may post some pictures of DC when we return and will write some things about the restaurants we try. I'll be helping my friend cook some evenings at her house, so with her approval, maybe she will let me post some of her recipes!
